Does
Your Dog Talk ? Your dog does communicate to us, but unfortunately not in a language that we easily understand. Dogs do send us messages, however. Various body language from a dog tells you mood and ques you about thoughts that are going through that canine head.
Wagging tail: A wagging tail can be like a human smile, but it is not always. The best indicator is the position of the tail. A tail that is level with the spine is usually saying the dog is relaxed and comfortable with the situation. A straight-up tail say that I am alert and confident. If the tail is tucked under, the dog may be anxious and stressed. Remember then the mouth is closed and the dog comes toward you with tail straight up and wagging fast, the dog is probably saying, I do not know about you.
Smile: A grin may mean the dog is excited to see you and is saying, "Hi !" If the ears are back, with the head low and tail wagging low can just be a friendly dog. Watch for the tail up and fur along the sping up with some growling. It may than be the dog threatening you.
Stare: When a dog is focused on you and is totally still, you should hesitate. Even if the dog is not barking, but the tail is raised and mouth closed, you may have a problem approaching the animal.
Walks away: When you dog is playing with you and all of a sudden walks away and lays down in the corner or under a table, he's tired. Do not bug him. He has had enough and really does want to rest.
Barking: Barking along only tells you that you dog is trying to give you a message. Watch for body language. If his front end is down on the ground with his rear in the air, he wants to play. Watch for the upright tail and hair up on the back. You should probably keep your distance.
